Day 5: Cancel Something
(Fill out this form once complete.)
It’s Friday before a long weekend. Let’s not make this too hard. I’m tired and thinking about my trip to California.
Go cancel something. One subscription product. Make a SaaS Bro sad today. (Please don’t cancel my paid newsletter if you’re a subscriber though.)
Some ideas:
Do you have dumb extra domains that you will never use but still autorenew each year? Go turn off the autorenew, and set a reminder email. Force yourself to make an active decision to renew that domain each year.
I know you tested out a random tool at some point in the past year and didn’t end up using it. For me, it was ClickUp — just didn’t quite work for us. Go cancel the subscription to that tool.
Look for downgrade potential — maybe you signed up for the Premier tier when Plus would have been just fine. Maybe you signed up for a 5-seat plan but actually you’re the only one using it.
Are you paying for random news sites that you don’t really read anymore? Cancel.
Do you have any contracts coming up for renewal? Send the account manager an email asking if they have any price breaks available for this upcoming renewal as you decide if you want to renew or not.
One tip — go into QuickBooks, go to Expenses, and filter by the category Software or Office or similar. That should give you a good running list to examine.
Don’t forget to complete the accountability form! Have a great weekend, and thanks for joining the first week of our 30-Day Business Owner Challenge! I’ll be back on Tuesday with Day 6.
Thanks,
