Technology as a Multiplier: How about leveraging technology to bridge the gap. Could implementing better systems and automation help manage the complexity without the full cost of an Operations Manager?
Alternative Funding Models: what about funding models like revenue-based financing?
I'm definitely doing my best to leverage technology using a mix of Zapier, Jotform, and ChatGPT. We're also using global talent (hired through Sagan) to help. That's meaningfully helped me improve operations without losing my mind.
But ultimately, I need someone to take accountability for these outcomes, which just needs to be a real, local person, particularly given the physical nature of the work. I need someone who can actually drive around to job sites, look at vehicles & equipment, talk to the guys face-to-face, etc.
On the financing side, my hands are a bit tied at this point given my SBA loans -- I'd rather not take on more financing (even if allowed) if I can avoid it.
Interesting article. Couple of thoughts.
