Big Deal Small Business: New Searcher Reader GuideFebruary 22, 2022 | Issue #62If this was forwarded to you, check out the archive and subscribe here.I'm standing on the edge of the finish line of my SMB deal right now. Hoping to have a good update for you next week. That said, the weeks of deal grind has made my brain a bit mushy, so a regular newsletter isn't in the cards. Doing it a bit different today.First, I've partnered with my friend at Brightleaf Holdings (Twitter) to run a survey on SMB transitions. This is obviously SUPER top of mind for me, and is a process every single searcher goes through if they close a deal. We thought it'd be useful to collect some quantitative & qualitative data to share back with the community around best practices, norms, and more. If you've completed an SMB acquisition, please fill out the survey at this link. It shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. We appreciate your willingness to share your lessons learned with all of us searchers who haven't gone through it yet.Second, I've been lucky to welcome a number of new readers over the past couple months (hello!) who probably haven't gone back and read the archive of 60+ newsletter posts (don't bother). That said, I get to chat with new searchers constantly that are in the learning & exploring phase of search, asking crucial questions like "traditional or self-funded", "local or national", "big or small", etc.Turns out I've written about a lot of these in the past, but it's a pain to find them amidst lots of navel-gazing and less useful blog posts in my archive. As a result, below is a new searcher reader guide - just an organized table of contents of posts that I'd suggest reading if you are a new searcher or considering becoming a searcher.
